Each week includes a thematic talk, practice, group check-ins, time for questions and guidance for home practice.

You’ll learn:

  • The importance of using mindfulness every day

  • How to practice research-based techniques

  • To process your experiences in conversation with others

Mindfulness practices originate from ancient wisdom transitions, they allow us to tune into our thoughts and emotions without judgement, attending to our habits of mind with calmness and clarity to foster well-being.

Week 1

  • Theme: Types of mindfulness practices

  • Practice: Mindful eating & body scan

  • Overview of formal and informal practices

Week 2

  • Theme: Be right where you are

  • Practice: Mindfulness of breathing

  • Research studies on mindfulness

Week 3

  • Theme: Our minds and thoughts

  • Practice: Mindfulness of sound and walking

  • Becoming the observer of our thoughts & reactions to our experience

Week 4

  • Theme: Kind attention

  • Practice: Kind attention

  • RAIN technique

Week 5

  • Theme: Be with things as they are

  • Practice: Kind attention and movement

  • Exploration of pleasant, neutral and unpleasant

Week 6

  • Theme: Moving forward

  • Practice: Kind attention, movement and mindful breath

  • Recommendations for continuing your practice

Your instructors Shawn and Jeff Holmes:

We are partners in life and work and with humor and sensitivity will guide you through Six Weeks of Mindfulness Meditation*. Shawn and Jeff have over 300 hours of training as meditation teachers, have taught mindfulness and mediation programs in Victoria, BC and online since 2018 and will complete a two-year certification program in mindfulness meditation with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield in February 2021. We are co-owners of The You in You Consulting, Inc.

  • Wednesdays: July 8th – Aug 12th @ 6:30 - 7:30 pm

*This six-week program will satisfy their practicum requirement. A program evaluation will be distributed and a portion of the program will be recorded (audio only) to satisfy the practicum requirements.
